OUR COMMUNITY: Meet OC’s Newest Catholic High School, CRISTO REY in Santa Ana
Tuesday Sep 19, 2023
Tuesday Sep 19, 2023
Meet the brand new Cristo Rey Orange County High School, a rigorous college preparatory, Catholic school that just opened in Santa Ana which offers students of limited economic resources a top tier college preparatory education AND an actual work experience at top employers like banks, law firms, universities and other major firms along the way to introduce them to this world and cover the cost of their private tuition at the same time.
It's all part of the nationwide Cristo Rey Network of high schools (originally started in Chicago by a group of Jesuits in a working class Hispanic neighborhood) where students "learn and earn" thru a unique Corporate Work Study Program that provides them the means to cover the cost of this extraordinary private education AND the opportunity to build real world skills and connections with potential employers along the way.
All of which gives these students the ability to suddenly "dream big". And provides them a clear path to achieving those new dreams by integrating rigorous academic curricula with four years of professional work experience and support to and through college. It's a path to success for families of limited means unlike anything you've ever seen! On this week's OUR COMMUNITY podcast, powered by the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Orange County's only community radio station, OC TALK RADIO.
